1e. Uses diagnostic student data to plan lessons. Determining a students' baseline should be a significant proponent when planning lessons. It would be counterproductive to spend time teaching lessons on a topic the students have already mastered. Additionally, the students would suffer if topics they do not understand are glossed over, because the teacher assumes they learned them in previous grades. As a part of my Impact on Student Learning project, I administered a pre-test to my students on a Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies topic. I, then, analyzed the results and used this data to design comprehensive lessons for my students. After a few weeks of teaching, I administered a post-test and was pleased to see that my students had made great strides. Explicitly lesson planning and teaching for the areas your students are lacking can have an extremely positive influence.
