3j. Utilize student feedback to monitor instructional needs and to adjust instruction. Student feedback is one of the best resources for an effective teacher. In addition to helping drive instruction, if done correctly, it can foster a sense of community and respect in the classroom. Students need to know that their thoughts and concerns are valued. After working on a new concept for a few days, I used a chart like this one to determine my students' comprehension. I would give each student a sticker and allows them to place it on the chart to indicate how they felt about the aforementioned concept. This process was completed anonymously to ensure that the students were being honest about their confidence and competence. While I could not specifically identify which students were confused, this tool gave me a better idea how my students were progressing.
