5.13 Create an information intensive environment that includes print and digital text.

Welcome to Our Digital Classroom! A classroom in the 21st century must be so much more than four bare walls, a desk, and some books. Children need excitement, wonder, and immersion. There are countless ways an educator can make their classroom more inviting. Two of those ways are through colorful, informative informational prints and the use of digital texts.
My classroom has many opportunities for students to use informational print. It is not uncommon to see a new anchor poster go up each week when we start a new skill. They are used for Math, Science, Language Arts, and even Writing concepts. They are also used to outline school rules and expectations. Our students can look to nearly any part of the room, and they will find something new to learn. I have always liked using anchor posters and other informational print in the classroom. It is a fun, creative way to provide students with a visual reminder of what they should be doing, learning, or remembering. During a recent lesson on Author's Purpose, I created an anchor chart to assist the students. I explained it thoroughly during that lesson and will continue to refer to it as we delve deeper into that topic. |
