5b. Examines and uses data-informed research to improve instruction and student achievement.
During the pre-service week before school began, Treeline Elementary School provided their teachers with countless opportunities to acquire new instructional strategies and effective tools to improve student achievement. I attended these seminars with my mentor and subsequently was endowed with the same opportunities and information. One of the seminars I found most beneficial was about Thinking Maps and how to incorporate them into the classroom. There are always new techniques to learn as educators, and those who become stagnant and complacent are left behind. Just as we encourage our students to be lifelong learners, we, ourselves, must model this behavior and learn new techniques whenever possible.
