4d. Modifies assessments and testing conditions to accommodate learning styles and varying levels of knowledge. Students do not all learn in the same way or at the same pace. Therefore, we cannot expect them all to be able to take tests in the same environment. In our classroom, my mentor and I use privacy folders during all paper-and-pencil assessments. Additionally, during all assessments (paper-and-pencil or on the computer), certain students are afforded flexible seating within the classroom. This stipulation in their 504 plans is designed to keep them focused on the test as well as give them additional privacy so they do not feel embarrassed sounding out the words on the test. These small changes can be very influential in a child's success on an assessment.
