2g. Integrates current information and communication technologies.
Technology can be one of a teacher's greatest assets. Students learn in so many different ways, and technological tools can assist with differentiation and subsequently provide clarity for many students. My mentor and I utilize Google Classroom, and each week the students are provided with a new activity list. It allows the students the opportunity to work at their own pace and provides differentiation of the activities based on their English Language Arts center group. Not all of the activities are executed on the computer, but having them laid out and explained on the activity list makes our expectations clear and concise. Another way that we incorporate technology in the classroom is through Class Dojo. This application can be used to communicate with parents as well as its primary function of behavior management. My mentor and I often post messages about what is going on in the classroom for all of the parents to read and send individual messages to parents for both positive and negative instances. Most of the parents of this class are highly receptive and good communicators. These technological tools help our students remain engaged and keep our parents informed.
