4a. Analyzes and applies data from multiple assessments and measures to diagnose students' learning needs, informs instruction based on those needs, and drives the learning process.
Data analysis is a crucial part to success in the classroom. One cannot be a highly effective teacher if they simply ignore the needs of their students and teach the prescribed material arbitrarily. Throughout my final internship, I analyzed student data in several different ways. As a part of our Reading Capstone, I delved into my students' STAR reading data and used the question by question results report to drive my subsequent instruction. Additionally, I completed a great deal of data analysis during my Impact on Student Leaning project. This project afforded me the opportunity to test my students with a pre and post test on the same material. After grading their pretests, I was able to determine the overall and individual areas of concern and address them while lesson planning. My students showed great improvement on their post-test which further demonstrates the need for targeted instruction.
