3g. Apply varied instructional strategies and resources, including appropriate technology, to provide comprehensible instruction, and to teach for student understanding.
Students are not meant to sit in their desks and be lectured to all day. There is so much more that can be gained by getting up and doing something. While interning at Treeline Elementary School, I was exposed to a wide variety of instructional strategies including the use of Kagan strategies. I also chose to incorporate gallery walks and scoots into my lesson plans. During the Gallery Walk in the video below, the students were each given three sticky notes and told to leave a positive comment about their classmates' habitat projects. The students were also writing down one fact they learned from each of their classmates' projects. The second video is of a Scoot activity I completed. I executed many activities of this variety during my time in internship, and the added component of being active really focused and engaged my students.
